Ah, Valentine’s Day. Who doesn’t love the idea of romantic meals over flickering candlelight, soft music playing in the background, a 3 course meal served leisurely over the span of a few hours, gazing longingly into your loved ones eyes. But, let’s be realistic, once you have kids life is not a rom-com. As a parent the reality is more like having to call numerous people before you find a sitter, making a reservation at your favorite restaurant doesn’t happen because you didn’t plan early enough, you have to try to get out of the house without your child’s dinner ending up on your clothes and you struggle to make it past 10 without falling asleep. Trust us, we get it.

So, while Valentine’s Day is a lovely day, inspired by, well, St. Valentine and Hallmark, sometimes it is easier to go out with your love any day of the year but February 14. That doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate though, with your kids in tow, and Valentine’s Day celebrations don’t have to be limited to just the 14th! We have some suggestions of some Valentine’s Day events around Atlanta that will make your whole family feel loved and go beyond the norm for a celebration none of you will soon forget.

Chick-Fil-A is celebrating their annual father-daughter date night on February 6 at locations throughout metro Atlanta. Make a reservation between 4:30P and 7:30P and enjoy conversation, food and activities. Every daddy-daughter pair will also receive conversation starters and a take-home booklet called “Continuing the Conversation”, providing ideas for future dates and questions that both dads and daughters can ask each other.

If fondue is more your thing than nuggets then make a reservation for lunch at one of the 4 The Melting Pot locations in Atlanta on February 6 or 7 for their “Lunch Date With Your Little Cupid” event. Bring in a Valentine for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and you will enjoy a 3 course meal for $29.99 and your kids 12 and under eat free!

If you prefer your nights out scattered, covered and smothered then you are in luck – participating Waffle House restaurants around the country are taking reservations for a romantic meal including candlelight, tablecloths and a heaping plate of hash brown and waffles. Yum.

Oakland Cemetery, less than a mile from downtown Atlanta, has the perfect tour for families to explore the cemetery and learn about the history of some of the cemeteries greatest love stories with their Love Stories of Oakland tour. On February 13th and 14th hour long tours are available between 3P and 5P and explore the symbolism of love throughout the cemetery as well as stories of loves and losses of notable Atlantans. Guests will enjoy a treat from No Whoop Bakery while touring. Before you fill your mind is filled with the tragic, and not so tragic love stories head over to Lotta Lotta Gourmet Fruit Market for lunch, so your bellies are satiated and you are ready to explore!

Beauty and the Beast is on at The Fox Theater from February 2 through February 7, and is perfect for a date with your little one. The perfect pre-show meal at Cooks and Soldiers would set this date off on the right foot and will have your little princesses (and princes) ready to sing the night away.

Whether your Valentine’s Day includes a night off from the kids or a weekend full of family activities we hope it certainly includes a lot of love! Happy Valentine’s Day from the TodFoo Family!
