🙂 = Fun atmosphere with a laid-back tropical theme. Big kids menu that comes with crayons. High chairs, booster seats, and infant carrier carriages available. Changing tables. Kids cup with lid and straw! Fantastic scenery (located on Lake Austin), and people watching is fun for the kiddos! Fast, friendly service – even when busy!
🙁 = Can get really REALLY busy (they don’t take reservations) and the waiting area can be congested as well. Lots of people, so gotta keep a closer-than-normal eye on the little ones. Some tricky elevation changes (stairs, down ramps, etc) so watch your step!

One surfer… two surfers…. three surfers…. four?! Are we at the ocean cuz I wanna see more!! I was so excited to see what this restaurant had in store from the moment I walked up. We never eat at a restaurant by the water, and I never get to see boats either – but I got both of these when we ate at Chuy’s Hula Hut today. Mommy said it was a treat, and boy was she right! When we got there, Dad asked to sit outside. The hostess asked us to walk outside to the patio. I asked him if it was the huuuuge thing sticking out right onto the water was the patio, and he said it was. Oh how fun! It was seriously GIGANTIC! I had no idea we could sit out there.
As we walked through the restaurant, I became so fascinated with all the bright colors, the tropical decorations, and the ladies making hand-made tortillas that I think I forgot how to walk for a minute. It seemed like we walked forever to get outside, but I didn’t care – I was enjoying every moment. The big ol’ mechanical fish outside scared me at first, but once Dad explained that it wasn’t real, we became best friends…. hehe. We were seated right away and lucky me – we got to sit next to the water! I looked down and saw so many fish and turtles. Dad told me they don’t eat tortilla chips, but I did my best to experiment for myself 🙂
We ordered the Hawaiian beef fajitas and the Chicken and Guacamole Tubular Taco. The food came fast, and it was yummy hot! The cheese inside the tubular taco was amazing, and the guacamole was some of the best I’ve had. (And I’ve had a lot of guacamole.) The melted goo oozed out of both ends, and I was more than happy to show off my string-cheese-eating abilities. The fajitas were good too! They were sweet and came with pineapples. The pineapples were my favorite.
Afterwards, we got to walk around a little bit and found a man who was fishing! He even showed me the huge fish he caught! Then, there was a nice couple who let me pet their nice dogs too! I loved eating at Hula Hut! I got to people watch plus the food was extra yummy! Maybe next time we’ll come in a boat!
