🙂 = Small plates are great for kids to taste a few things and easy on the wallet. Watching the chefs roll sushi and fun lighting displays help keep the little ones entertained. Very friendly staff too!

🙁 = No kids menu or changing tables. The crowd gets significantly less kid-friendly as it gets later. So go early. Reservations also highly recommended past 6pm, especially on weekends.

Notes: Butterfly has 3 locations in the city for dine in, carry-out, and delivery. They are open Mon-Thu 11am-10pm, Fri 11am-11pm, Sat 12pm-11pm and Sun 12pm-10pm.

Mommy and Daddy were SUPER excited to head to the city for a party Saturday night but first, we had to grab a bite to eat. They were adamant about Butterfly since it was in our old neighborhood. We parked right across the street and walked over to the brand new building.

When we arrived, there were several girls up front to greet us, and they sat us right away at a spot by the window. Daddy had stopped for some beer along the way since it’s BYOB. The waitress was kind enough to opened it for him right away and brought us waters (mine with a lid and a straw). We also ordered edamame (my favorite) while we looked over the menus. Even though there was no kids’ menu, we found a few things I liked, and we ordered.

The food came out so fast! The edamame was first. I love to open the pods up and make a collection of the green dots before I eat them so they can cool down. They are somehow crunchy and soft at the same time, and these were perfectly salted. Next, my chicken satay arrived (pictured above). You can’t go wrong with chicken grilled on a stick, and this comes with a creamy peanut sauce drizzled on top. It’s really fun to eat!

Delicious grub!

Mommy and Daddy ordered some sushi. I tried the sweet potato roll, which was tempura fried sweet potato in a sweet sauce, rolled up with sticky rice. I didn’t like the black on the outside (seaweed wrap) so they took it out, and I just ate the inside. The other roll was spicy so I didn’t eat it either. However, Mommy and Daddy raved about the crunchy spicy tuna roll and how much they missed it. They said it was cold and fresh with generous amounts of fish and plenty of flavor. The crunchy spicy tuna was topped with chopped tuna mixed with spicy mayo and rolled in tempura crumbs. It looked pretty neat!

We also got two thai dishes since the adults at the table couldn’t agree on which one to get. I wasn’t complaining because they were both delicious. The Pad See Ew had wide, flat rice noodles with a really sweet sauce that was fun to catch on the plate. The chicken was tender and the perfectly veggies crisp. The basil fried rice is the best since it comes with pineapple in it! Even though the menu says its spicy, it didn’t bother me, and I gobbled mine right up. I avoided the peppers and onions, but the scrambled eggs and chicken in it were super yummy.

The best way to eat yummy food!

We left very full and happy, and of course, we had plenty left to fill our to-go boxes. I can’t wait until we get to go down to the city again since I know we’ll head back to Butterfly. Definitely give it a shot if you are in the neighborhood, you won’t be disappointed!
