Hu-Dat is a Corpus Christi favorite, and they can be found all over the city. Mommy and daddy decided to try the Portland location. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted and told to pick a table. Daddy got me a highchair, and my water came in no time. Thank goodness because I was parched! When mommy and daddy looked at the menu, they said there were many great options for Chinese and Vietnamese food. Mommy ordered me sesame chicken with steamed rice and ordered herself sesame chicken too but with fried rice. Daddy ordered General Tso chicken with steamed rice. They also ordered the Vietnamese egg rolls for appetizer. Both of their meals came with egg drop soup…which I absolutely LOVE, and it came FAST. It was very hot when it arrived. So, I ate the crunchy Asian crackers it came with. I love to dip them into the soup. It makes everything taste extra yummy!
Our appetizer arrived next, and those roll things were very hot too so I had to wait. It FINALLY cooled down, and I gobbled it up fast! It was so yummy with the orangy-red sauce. I think mommy and daddy liked the egg rolls too because they ate all of them very quickly. Our food arrived next… I was not sure how I was going to eat more food, but I took a bite of my sesame chicken and LOVED it. My mommy agreed – the sesame chicken was very yummy! Daddy also said his general Tso chicken was delicious. Mommy said she liked the way they prepared their chicken. It was fresh and slightly crisp. She says that most places over fry their Chinese chicken dishes but definitely NOT this place. For those that love to add spice to their dishes, they have the option to request for more on a scale 1x for the wimps and all the way up to 5x for the fearless.
After we finished our meals, mommy took me to look at the fishies in the fish tank. I always like looking at fish tanks! We all enjoyed this Hu-Dat location, and I’m hoping we get to come back very soon! I especially liked that the food came out very quickly, and the people were cordial and pleasant.
